Struck from 0.5g of 99.99% pure gold, The Mini Roo is a button-sized version of the renowned Australian Kangaroo.
Australia's most recognised animal symbol, the kangaroo has been regularly portrayed on Australian coins, tokens and medallions since the 1850s. Honouring the historic precedent, The Perth Mint began crafting outstanding gold coins featuring annual designs of the famous marsupial in 1989.
The coin portrays a kangaroo looking over its shoulder with a eucalyptus tree and grass trees in the background. As well as the inscription ‘KANGAROO’, the design incorporates The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
This coin portrays the official ‘Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Obverse’, featuring the Jody Clark effigy supplemented with the dates of Her Majesty’s reign – ‘1952 – 2022’.
This neat offering is housed in a protective acrylic capsule incorporated within a stylish wallet-sized card.
The Perth Mint opened in 1899 as the British Royal Mint’s 3rd branch in Australia. The historical Hay Street location handled gold refining until moving to a modern facility in April 1990. Ownership of the mint was transferred to the Government of Western Australia in July of 1970. Under an agreement with the Commonwealth Treasury, they were empowered to mint and market gold, silver, and platinum as Australian legal tender to investors and collectors worldwide. Today, they are amongst the elite world mints whose pure gold, silver, and platinum items are trusted without question. Items such as the Australian Nugget, Silver Coin Series (Kangaroo, Kookaburra, Koala, and Platypus to name a few), as well as the Australian Lunar Gold and Silver Coin Series are extensively sought after by bullion investors worldwide.
