This beautiful 10 oz silver bar features the Great Britannia armed with her trident and shield and wearing a Corinthian helmet. Britannia not only embodied the United Kingdom in female form but before her defeat at the hands of the Romans, she was revered as a goddess. When the Roman Empire fell in the seventeenth century, Britannia's symbol quickly rose and signified Great Britain's revival, national pride and power. By the nineteenth century, her image began circulating on coins, paintings, statues, and monuments.
